Pengertian Internet

Definisi internet

Malicious cyber actors across the world target U.S. citizens, businesses, and military and government entities every day. These cyber criminals cause billions of dollars in losses, making cybercrime a growing threat for law enforcement.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) received more than 350,000 complaints with losses exceeding $2.7 billion in 2018. The total number of complaints and estimated losses were the highest the center had received over the previous four years. For comparison, in 2017, the center received 301,580 complaints, totaling $1.4 billion in losses.

Faced with the growing threat of cyber crime, it is crucial for state and local police agencies to invest in cyber programs. From the standpoint of a criminal, cybercrime is relatively low-risk and has the potential for enormous rewards. Until police agencies become adept at preventing and investigating cybercrime, there may not be significant deterrents to

Closed Captioning of Internet Video Programming

Closed captioning is the visual display of the audio portion of video programming. Captioning provides access to individuals who are deaf or have hearing loss and is often used in places where it is difficult to hear a TV program, such as restaurants and exercise facilities. FCC rules require captioned programs shown on TV to be captioned when re-shown on the Internet.

Video programming rules

  • The Internet closed captioning rules only apply if the video programming was shown on TV in the U.S. with captions.
  • “Full-length video programming” is video programming that is shown on TV and is distributed to end users, substantially in its entirety, through the Internet.
  • “Video clips” are excerpts of full-length video programming that are posted online.  The rules require video programming distributors that show programming on TV to post captioned clips of their programming on their own websites or applications (“apps”).  At this time, the

U.S. to relinquish remaining control over the Internet

U.S. officials announced plans Friday to relinquish federal government control over the administration of the Internet, a move that pleased international critics but alarmed some business leaders and others who rely on the smooth functioning of the Web.

Pressure to let go of the final vestiges of U.S. authority over the system of Web addresses and domain names that organize the Internet has been building for more than a decade and was supercharged by the backlash last year to revelations about National Security Agency surveillance.

The change would end the long-running contract between the Commerce Department and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), a California-based nonprofit group. That contract is set to expire next year but could be extended if the transition plan is not complete.

“We look forward to ICANN convening stakeholders across the global Internet community to craft an appropriate transition plan,” Lawrence E. Strickling,

Creating a Better Internet for Kids

Young people need a safe and stimulating environment while engaging with new technologies and spending time online. The Strategy for a Better internet for Children provides actions to empower them as they explore the digital world.

One out of three internet users is a child. They go online at an ever younger age, using a diverse range of devices. They spend more time on the internet and social media, play more online games and use mobile apps, frequently without supervision by adults. New technologies such as artificial intelligence, increased connectivity, augmented and virtual reality will cause an important shift in the way children engage and interact in society.

While the internet offers many opportunities for learning, communication, creativity and entertainment, it also opens up certain risks to vulnerable users such as children.

Online, children can be exposed to harmful content and behaviour such as cyberbullying, sexual harassment, pornography, violence, or
