As a school we are really taking a full part in the Hour of Code week, today is the turn of Year 4.
Mrs Henry is very excited about your lesson as – The Force Awaken… Star Wars Coding!
One part of BEST you really need to do in coding is S – stick at it! Sometimes it isn’t always easy and takes a few goes. Before you ask your teacher for help there is a lot you can do for yourself – the VIRTUAL STUCK STATION! The program will show you videos – don’t skip them, but listen carefully as they will teach you what you need to know! Also if your code is wrong the computer will give you hints so you know what you are missing!
Best of luck

As a school we are really taking a full part in the Hour of Code week, but unfortunately Year 4 might miss out!  But don’t worry with swimming cancelled this week we will try our coding today 😀

As a school we are really taking a full part in the Hour of Code week which started on Monday.  From Year 1 to 6 everyone is having a go at coding 🙂  Today is the turn of Year 4.

Over the last few weeks we have become programming experts in Year 4 as we have built a Maths game in Scratch, so this challenge will build upon those skills.

This week in computing it all got a lot more complex as we added to our program.  Actually we could be sneaky and use the duplicate function to copy the code!  But we had to remember to change the code a little or we would ask the same question again and again! Not a very interesting maths quiz.

We also had to add in some sound effects to make the game more interesting.

Computing saw us start our programming using of work.  We are going to build on what we did last Year, on Scratch a free downloadable block programming language from MIT, but this time we are going to write our own maths quiz for a pupil in reception.  After quickly picking our background (stage) and sprite we then had to use an If… Else…  statement so if the wrong answer is given the computer will do something different.  Even given the code blocks we found this tricky.
